If you're looking for a dramatic ocean view, epic sunsets, and a spot that feels off the tourist radar (but still close to town), this is a solid choice. It's a natural lava rock ledge on the southeastern coast of Oahu in the Hawaii Kai area, and it's known for its steep cliffs that drop right into the ocean. During calm days, locals come here to jump off the rocks into the water, hang out, and soak in the sun. On rougher days, it turns into a whole different beast, waves crash hard against the ledges and spray up in these super photogenic bursts. It's not exactly a swim spot, but the energy of the ocean here is incredible, and just sitting and watching the waves can be hypnotic. It's also one of the best places to catch sunset away from the Waikiki crowds, seriously, the golden hour light reflecting off the cliffs is amazing.

Tips for Visiting

  • Watch the Conditions: This is not a place to jump or swim when the surf is up. The waves can get gnarly and unpredictable, people have gotten seriously injured here. If it's rough, just enjoy the view.

  • Sunset Sweet Spot: Come in the late afternoon, bring a drink or snack, and post up for the sunset, it's stunning and way more chill than the usual tourist spots.

  • Wear Good Shoes: The rocks can be slippery, sharp, and uneven. Flip-flops aren't ideal, wear something with grip.

  • Respect the Locals: This is a local hangout spot, not a resort. Keep it mellow, clean up after yourself, and be courteous if you're jumping in or hanging around.

  • Parking: It's in a residential neighborhood (Koko Kai area), so street parking is limited. Be respectful of driveways and signs, and keep noise down when coming and going.

  • No Facilities: There are no bathrooms, showers, or lifeguards here. Come prepared and treat it like a quick hangout spot, not a full beach day.
