If you're looking for a peaceful, scenic, and historic place away from Bali's usual crowds, Taman Ujung Water Palace is a must-visit. Located in East Bali, this royal water palace was built in 1919 as a place for the King of Karangasem to host important guests and conduct spiritual cleansing rituals. With elegant Balinese and European-style architecture, stunning gardens, and breathtaking ocean and mountain views, it's one of the most photogenic spots on the island. Why Visit Taman Ujung? A Royal Water Palace: This was once a retreat for Balinese royalty, featuring grand pavilions, bridges, and serene reflecting pools. Breathtaking Views: Climb up to the hilltop pavilion for incredible panoramic views of the ocean, rice fields, and Mount Agung in the background. Stunning Photo Opportunities: With elegant bridges, water gardens, and unique architecture, this place looks straight out of a fairytale, perfect for photography lovers. Quiet & Less Crowded: Unlike Ubud or Uluwatu, Taman Ujung is much less touristy, making it a great place to relax and explore without the crowds.

Tips for Visiting

  • Go in the Morning or Late Afternoon: The palace grounds are open and exposed to the sun, so visiting during cooler hours (before 10 AM or after 3 PM) is more comfortable.

  • Wear Comfortable Shoes: If you plan to walk up to the hilltop pavilion, sturdy sandals or sneakers are best for the stairs.

  • Entry Fee: The entrance fee is usually around 50,000 IDR (~$3.50 USD) per person.

  • Pair It with Tirta Gangga: Since Tirta Gangga Water Palace is nearby, it's easy to visit both in one trip for a full day of East Bali exploration.

  • Pack a Hat & Sunscreen: The open gardens don't offer much shade, so protecting yourself from the sun is a must.

  • Perfect for Drone Photography: If you have a drone, this is one of the best places in Bali to capture sweeping aerial shots of the palace and coastline.
