A Hidden Gem in the Rainforest, Tchupala Falls is a breathtaking cascade nestled within the lush rainforest of Wooroonooran National Park, near Cairns. The falls consist of multiple tiers, with water gracefully tumbling down moss-covered rocks into serene pools below. Surrounded by dense tropical vegetation, the area is rich in wildlife, offering visitors a peaceful retreat away from the crowds. A short, well-maintained walking track leads to the falls, making it a relatively easy yet rewarding destination for nature lovers and photographers.

Tips for Visiting

  • Access & Trail: The trail to Tchupala Falls is approximately 600 meters from the parking area. It's an easy-to-moderate walk but can be slippery after rain. Best Time to Visit: Visit during or after the wet season (November-April) for the most impressive water flow.

  • Footwear: Wear sturdy, non-slip shoes, as the path may be muddy. Swimming: While the pools may look inviting, currents can be strong, so always assess the conditions before entering the water.

  • Wildlife Spotting: Keep an eye out for native birds, butterflies, and even the elusive cassowary.

  • No Facilities: There are no restrooms or picnic facilities at the falls, so plan accordingly.

  • Bug Protection: Bring insect repellent, as mosquitoes are common in the rainforest. Tchupala Falls is a stunning spot perfect for a short adventure into the wild beauty of North Queensland's waterfalls.
