A Majestic Cascading Waterfall in the Atherton Tablelands, Zillie Falls is a spectacular waterfall located along the famous Waterfall Circuit in the Atherton Tablelands, near Millaa Millaa and Ellinjaa Falls. This powerful cascade plunges over a basalt rock cliff, creating a dramatic display of rushing water that crashes into the pool below. Unlike some waterfalls in the area, Zillie Falls is best admired from the viewing platform near the top, which provides a fantastic vantage point for photos. A steep, unmarked trail leads to the base of the falls for those seeking a closer look, but it can be slippery, especially after rainfall. Surrounded by lush rainforest, Zillie Falls is a great spot to experience the natural beauty of the region. The sound of rushing water, the misty air, and the vibrant greenery make it a truly immersive rainforest experience.

Tips for Visiting

  • Best Viewing Spot: The designated lookout provides a safe and breathtaking view from the top of the falls. If you want to reach the base, proceed with caution as the track is unofficial and can be slippery.

  • Swimming Warning: Unlike Millaa Millaa Falls, Zillie Falls does not have a designated swimming area, and the currents at the base can be strong.

  • Best Time to Visit: Visit during the wet season (December to April) to see the waterfall at full strength, but be mindful that the paths may be muddy.

  • Footwear: If you plan on hiking down to the base, wear sturdy, non-slip shoes to navigate the steep terrain safely.

  • Photography: Bring a wide-angle lens or use panorama mode to capture the full beauty of the falls. Overcast days provide softer lighting for stunning shots.

  • Wildlife Spotting: The surrounding rainforest is home to plenty of bird species, butterflies, and sometimes even tree kangaroos, so keep an eye out! Combine Your Visit: Since Zillie Falls is part of the Waterfall Circuit, plan your visit alongside Millaa Millaa Falls and Ellinjaa Falls for a full day of waterfall chasing. Zillie Falls is an awe-inspiring stop on the Waterfall Circuit, offering a dramatic and untouched view of nature's power in the heart of the Atherton Tablelands.
