Baldwin Beach

If you're cruising through Paia on Maui's North Shore, Baldwin Beach Park is a perfect place to stop and soak in some sun. Known for its long stretch of golden sand, turquoise waters, and local feel, Baldwin is a great place to chill out, go for a walk, watch the waves, or enjoy a beach day without the crowds. It's one of those beaches that locals love and visitors are happy to discover. Why Visit Baldwin Beach? Long, Sandy Stretch: Perfect for beach walks, running, or finding a quiet spot to lay out, this beach has plenty of room to spread out. Great for Bodyboarding (in season): In the winter months, the waves can get big enough for bodyboarding or watching surfers. Kid-Friendly Area (Baby Beach): On the west end is Baby Beach, a calm, protected lagoon great for kids and those looking for gentle waters. Breezy & Scenic: The North Shore breeze, backed by ironwood trees and views of Haleakal, makes it a great spot to cool off and enjoy the view. Beautiful for Sunrise or Sunset: While it's a sunrise-facing beach, the lighting in the late afternoon is golden and perfect for photos.

Tips for Visiting

  • Best Time to Go? Morning for calm water and fewer people, or late afternoon when the breeze cools things down.

  • How to Get There: Located just past Paia town on Hana Highway (Hwy 36), easy to spot and access.

  • Facilities Available: There are restrooms, showers, lifeguards, and picnic tables, so it's great for a full beach day.

  • Bring Shade or Sunscreen: It's wide open and sunny so bring an umbrella or be ready to find shade under the trees.

  • Watch the Shore Break: Waves can be strong in the winter, so always check conditions if you're thinking about swimming.

  • Walk to Baby Beach: If you're with little ones or want calm water, walk west along the sand to Baby Beach (a hidden local gem).
